Embrace leadership at your library: celebrate National Library Week April 8-14

(EAST CHICAGO, IN) – This week, the East Chicago Public Library is excited to highlight National Library Week. We join libraries nationwide in celebrating the many ways libraries lead their communities through the transformative services, programs and expertise they offer.
It is an annual celebration of the life-changing work of libraries, librarians and library workers. Libraries aren’t just places to borrow books or study—they’re also creative and engaging community centers where people can collaborate using new technologies and develop their skills and passions.
Libraries of all types have long been evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Community members can also develop their own leadership skills at the library, with endless opportunities to build skills and confidence through available resources and programming.
The East Chicago Public Library is celebrating National Library Week by offering the following free programs:
Monday, April 9 – Drawing workshop by Dan Laib   (Main Library)
Dan Laib will present a drawing workshop from 4-5 P.M. Learn how to design and draw 2-3 different storybook characters.  It's fun and simple.   All supplies are included and all ages are welcome to attend the free event.
Tuesday, April 10 – There will be a National Library Week Refreshment Table at both locations (Main Library & Pastrick Branch). Stop by the reference department and enjoy some goodies.
Friday, April 13 – Patron Appreciation Day – (Main Library)
Join us for coffee and cake from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get your photo taken for free at the Library Photo Booth in the library’s main meeting room from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We invite you to take a picture and share it on Facebook or Instagram. Readers of all ages are welcome!
