MLK Exhibit at ECPL Encourages Community Participation

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and legacy, the East Chicago Public Library will offer a display that honors the life of Dr. King. The display will be assembled in the John C. Templeton Gallery at the Main Library located at 2401 E. Columbus Dr. It is set to run from January 8th until January 31st. The educational display will be comprised of historical artifacts, important books and essential data that will highlight important dates in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It will also offer information that will give viewers a more in depth look into his life and journey.
As an incentive, visitors who view the display can fill out a six (6) question multiple choice quiz for a chance to win a $25 gift card. The answers to the quiz can be found throughout the exhibit. More than one winner will be named in the educational display.
The purpose of the exhibit is to create an atmosphere that educates the public on the important timeline of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The display will serve as a collection-based attempt to embrace his influential life and legacy through knowledge and research. The goal is to create a greater public understanding and appreciation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his seismic impact.
Winners of the MLK quiz competition will be named on February 1
st. The free exhibit may be viewed during regular library hours.
