Health Information Update: COVID 19

What is the East Chicago Public Library doing about COVID-19 ("coronavirus")?
The safety of East Chicago Public Library patrons and staff is our top concern. Indiana State Department of Health confirmed there are 12 individuals across the state who have tested positive for COVID-19. None of which are in Lake County.
We are elevating our routine procedures of wiping down computers, restrooms and other public areas. Providing hand sanitizer stations at both of our locations. Facial tissues, sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes are available. Ask library staff.
We are not cancelling library services or events at this time. If library events or services are impacted, we will let you know via our website, email, social media, and by text.
What you can do:
  • Please do not visit us if you are sick. If your materials are due, please call us to renew, or renew online.
  • Please be considerate of others.
    Cover your cough or sneeze.
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Use the hand sanitizers available at the public desks.
